We officially started our work from March 25, 2010 and we believe the journey will continue for many years to come. In this memorable occasion we would like to show our gratitude for all the support that we got from the friends and well wishers who have been there throughout this entire time. Here’s a journey through the memory lane:

It is a matter of great delight for AUTUMN Foundation that Mr. Thomas Simon Olesen has arrived in Bangladesh to join and cooperate in its activities. He will be staying in Bangladesh for about six weeks, and he will be actively participating in project planning and implementation.

Mr. Thomas is from the KaosPilot; it is located in Denmark and the institution specializes in creative leadership development. The purpose of the KaosPilot School is to create positive societal change through personal growth and enterprise.

Three young members of AUTUMN Foundation re-visited the Aila affected areas on this month. Like the first visit, the team went to the area Dacope this time also. The team members were Fazle Abed, Rubayet Ahmed Dip and Saad Hussain. Dacope is still one of the worst affected areas due to cyclone Aila that hit Bangladesh in 2009. The young volunteers stayed there for four days starting from October 11. And in the mean time, they took a trip around the Shibshah river in a trawler to observe the entire affected area. The team observed the breaches in the dams in several different locations. Those breaches are the main reason behind the suffering of so many families. AUTUMN Foundation is thankful for the remarkable warmth that the people of Kalinagar showed over there.

The stories of the people of these areas are being called the Unweaving Dreams, and now Part 2 has been published. The reason behind the naming is very obvious; generally people always hope and dream for better days, but that time has passed long ago for those Aila affected people. Now, after 14 months and no apparent improvement, they have abandoned all hopes and “unweaving” the dreams they once had.

On the morning of October 10 (2010), members, volunteers and well wishers of AUTUMN Foundation got together to celebrated the historic day by cleaning up the Dhanmondi 8 Rabindra Sharabar (Mukto Moncho) and the lake surrounding it. 10/10/10 a.k.a. Global Work Party was a global campaign called upon by the 350.org; it is an international campaign that’s building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis—the solutions that science and justice demand.

At around 06:00 hours the cheerful bunch of volunteers was already present at the location. Work began shortly; all of a sudden the entire place was filled with positive energy and excitement. The participants were collecting the litter in trash bags, cleaning up the place with brooms, asking the pedestrians and onlookers not to throw trash all over the place, and encouraging them to put the unwanted garbage in the right locations. The trash was kept in separate bags, e.g. plastic in one, papers in another. The main focus was to collect all the plastic and other non-biodegradable items that could cause harm to the lake’s biodiversity. The work went on till around 08:00 hours. And finally after some thorough cleaning, the place looked neat and beautiful and had rid entirely of plastic items.

During the cleanup volunteers gleefully posed for many memorable photo moments. And after the cleanup was finished, all the volunteers came together to pose for a photo with a big AUTUMN Foundation banner and 350.org placard made especially for the occasion 10/10/10. We are glad that so many volunteers showed up so early in the morning and worked so hard to accomplish the goal. AUTUMN Foundation is thankful to each and every individual who participated in this special celebration that was a part of more than 7,000 other events worldwide. We want to thank the following individuals for their support and cooperation-
